Rotationally symmetric p -harmonic maps fromD2toS2

We consider rotationally symmetric p-harmonic maps from the unit disk D2⊂R2 to the unit sphere S2⊂R3, subject to Dirichlet boundary conditions and with 1<p<∞. We show that the associated energy functional admits a unique minimizer which is of class C∞ in the interior and C1 up to the boundary. We also show that there exist infinitely many global solutions to the associated Euler–Lagrange equation and we completely characterize them.

Abstract The interaction of PtCl42− with the new azaparacyclophane 2,5,8,11-tetraaza[12]paracyclophane (L2) has been studied by 1H, 13C and 195Pt NMR spectroscopy. Three different complexes are detected as a function of pH, all of them presenting cis-arrangement of nitrogen donors and chloride anions. In the first one, formed at acidic pH, the central nitrogen atoms of the macrocyclic are coordinating to Pt(II) while the benzylic nitrogens remain protonated. Deprotonation of these nitrogens brings about a reorganisation of the complex, and the platinum is then coordinated by one benzylic nitrogen and the consecutive nitrogen in the macrocycle. Abstract We report a molecular dynamics study on the 1:1 M3+ lanthanide (La3+, Eu3+ and Yb3+) inclusion complexes of an important extractant molecule L: a calix[4]arene-tetraalkyl ether substituted at the wide rim by four NH-C(O)-CH2-P(O)Ph2 arms. The M(NO3)3 and MCl3 complexes of L are compared in methanol solution and at a water / chloroform interface. In the different environments the coordination sphere of M3+ involves the four phosphoryl oxygens and three to four loosely bound carbonyl oxygens of the CMPO-like arms. Accuracy of magnetic resonance enterography in the preoperative assessment of patients with Crohn's disease of the small bowel

Aim to assess the accuracy of magnetic resonance-enterography in predicting the extension, location and characteristics of the small bowel segments affected by Crohn's disease. Method This is a prospective study including a consecutive series of 38 patients with small bowel Crohn's disease who underwent surgery at a specialized colorectal unit of a tertiary hospital. Preoperative magnetic resonance enterography was performed in all patients, following a homogeneous protocol, within the three months prior to surgery. However, little information exists as to whether anal endosonography reliably defines pelvic floor structures. International audience; The reactions of the copper(I) derivative [CuL(THF)(CH3CN)]PF6 (1), in which L is the di-imine/pyridine ligand 2,6-bis[1-(2,6-diisopropylphenylimino)ethyl]pyridine, with different β-diketones (2,4-pentanedione (acacH), 1,3-diphenyl-1,3-propanedione (dbm)) yielded the new Cu(I) salt [CuL′2]PF6 (2) (L′: 2-[acetyl]-6-[1-(2,6-diisopropylphenylimino)ethyl]pyridine). These reactions of β-diketones with a di-imine/pyridine ligand co-ordinated to a Cu(I) centre constitute the first example of a partial hydrolysis of such a Schiff base within the inner sphere of a Cu centre. Probing the shape of176Hgalong the yrast line

In-beam \ensuremath{\gamma}-ray and \ensuremath{\gamma}-\ensuremath{\gamma} coincidence measurements have been made for the very neutron-deficient nucleus ${}^{176}\mathrm{Hg}$ using the recoil-decay tagging (RDT) technique. The irregular yrast sequence observed up to $I=10\ensuremath{\Elzxh}$ indicates that the prolate intruder band, seen in heavier Hg isotopes near the neutron midshell, crosses the nearly spherical ground-state band of ${}^{176}\mathrm{Hg}$ above $I=6\ensuremath{\Elzxh}.$
